Joan Franzone is permanently certified to teach Biology and General Science in New York State. In addition to teaching science full time at public schools on Long Island, Joan pioneered "the teaching of marine biology through art forms" with the Huntington Township Department of Recreation Long Island and at the Rhinebeck County School for Learning Impaired in Rhinebeck, New York.

Her most recent accomplishments include teaching environmental art to children at many public and private institutions in the area for after school enrichment and "holding her own" as a substitute teacher in demand at a variety of school settings throughout the Tri-State area.

She currently serves as interpretive naturalist at the Sharon Connecticut Audubon Center and is registered with the Mid Hudson Teachers Center, New Paltz for curriculum consulting and professional workshops. The teaching of Personalized Occupational Educational Modules (project POEM) familiarizing Adult Learning Curriculum (ALC) students with local job opportunities is registered with the New York State Mentoring Division under "From Page to Place".

Joan holds a BA in Biology Education from C.W. Post College, Brookville, Long Island, NY.  In addition to 49 graduate hours in Math and Science, all formal coursework leading to a Masters Degree in Marine Biology from Long Island University has been completed. She resides in Pine Plains, NY with her husband Henry, an owner of a contract office sales company in Massachusetts.
